The historical park of Sukhothai is noted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and located at about 12km to the west side of the modern city of Sukhothai. Sukhothai literally means “Dawn of Happiness”.
Back in the 13th and 14th centuries, it was the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom as known today as northern Thailand. It is a blend of ancient Buddha figures, palaces and temples which ones are in much better conditions than the ruins of Ayutthaya.
An easy way to get around the park and its surroundings is to rent a bicycle. There is pretty much no motorized traffic which is highly relaxing and enjoyable!
