Muang Ngoi is a remote village alongside the Nam Ou river in Northern Laos. You can only access it by boat. It is a peaceful place with viewpoints, caves and villages to explore. The viewpoints are not that stunning compared to the ones of Nong Khiaw. However, the cave from the northernmost viewpoint is great to explore.
When heading to the southernmost viewpoint, keep going on the dusty road following the Nam Ou river. There is no mention of roads nor villages if you are looking at your GPS application. That is where the real adventure starts!
The first village is located at about 4 kms from Muang Ngoi while the second village is located at another 4 kms. These villages are literally off the beaten track. This means that you really get to see how locals live in remote areas. While we had lunch in the second village, every single kid stoped by to interact with us! This was such a wonderful experience! From this second village there is a path leading to an awesome waterfall. The path itself is an adventure. It goes through a breathtaking scenery of rice cultures.
