The Cameron highlands is the main destination for trekking in Malaysia. There at least 14 well known trails in the area with various difficulty levels. Back then, the trails were used by the military forces against communist forces. Expect a countless number of green tea plantations. It is a wonderful blend of colors and smells!
Tanah Rata is a great location to get a cheap accommodation. It is within walking distance to the main trails entrance. There is a local bus covering the main cities such as Tanah Rata, Brinchang, Kea Farm, Tringkap, Kuala Terla and Kampung Raja.
The most famous trail, also known as trail N°1, starts from the city of Brinchang. It leads to Mount Brinchang at about 2032 meters above sea level. There is a stunning viewpoint up there which offers a 360° view. On the way back, you can head to the BOH Sungai Palas Tea Centre which is one of the most beautiful tea plantation in the area. If done this way, it is a 15 kms trail in total.
Some areas of the Cameron highlands are well preserved with some incredibly beautiful tea plantations. I am quite doubtful about what it might look like in the future since mega resorts are being built everywhere. What a shame!
Beautiful and extremely amazing . 🍀🌹
