At 130 million years of age,Taman Negara is the world’s oldest rainforest and biggest national park of Malaysia. Heading from the Cameron Highlands to Kuala Tahan is a 4-hour bus journey followed by a 3-hour boat ride. Kuala Tahan is a cheap and easy getaway to Taman Negara. Expect an amazing blend of jungle atmosphere which awaken all your senses: your eyesight with green plants, your hearing with bird sounds and your sense of smell with fresh plants and humidity!
Let’s talk numbers! Taman Negara is covering over 4343km2. It is home to over 10000 species of plants, over 300 species of mammals, over 300 species of fish and over 380 species of birds. That being said, you can only see a fraction of what Taman Negara has to offer! It would literally takes several lifes to explore the entire National Park of Taman Negara.
The park has the world’s longest canopy walkway. It was created for scientifical purposes a couple of years ago. It is now a great way to enjoy a view of the jungle at 40 meters height. There are a few peaks to hike in the area such as Bukit Teresek or Bukit Indah.
Beautiful photos! Wow, I like how nicely you made the leaves and tree trunks stand out in the lush forest. Did you get to photograph any animals?

Hey Julie! Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunatly, I have not seen much! A few birds, monkeys and wild boars. The thing is that you have to walk deep and far in the rainforest to spot them. This means long boat rides and multiple days trekking. Tigers, elephants and some other species are endangered which means that chances to spot them are close to 0. The area of Kuala Tahan is too much developed to get a wild life.
