Mount Pinatubo is a volcano at 1485m above sea level. It is located in Southern Luzon. While you can start from Manila, the village of Santa Juliana is the most enjoyable way to start the hike of Mount Pinatubo.
Back in 1991, Mount Pinatubo exploded producing the 2nd largest terrestrial eruption of the 20th century. The erruption of the volcano have had significant global environmental impacts.More than a dozen billion tons of magma were ejected over Mount Pinatubo’ surrounding and millions of tons of sulfur dioxide gas were ejected into the atmosphere.
Since it is forbidden by law to go on your own and knowing that it is a sort of rally course to head towards the base of Mount Pinatubo, you have no other choice than going with a tour. Is Mount Pinatubo worth the price? I honestly do not think it is. Let’s be transparent, these tours are utterly expensive! Just hoping that the money is well distributed to help the locals. Is it worth a visit if you are traveling the Philippines? It definetely is since it is one of the highlight of the country. More than the volcano, the scenery while driving the jeep is incredible. It is a sort of wild desert area.
Awesome! The photos are beautiful.
