Jianshui is an ancient town located in the Southern part of the Yunnan province. It is a short 3-hour bus or train journey from Kunming. While the architecture of the city has been renovated on a constant basis, Jianshui retains its ancient character. The city is home to three different ethnic groups: the Han, the Hui and the Yi.
Wandering and getting lost in Jianshui is definitely the best way to enjoy its ancient buildings and narrow streets. Few activities and sightseeings include the enormous Confucious Temple, the Zhu’s family garden, the 4th different gates surrounding Jianshui, the numerous local markets and the Double Dragon Bridge. Renting a bicycle is a good option to discover the surroundings of Jianshui such as the Tuashan village, the pottery factory or the swallow cave.
The province of Yunnan is known for the quality of its food specials. You can enjoy some of the best steam-pot and barbecue of the country! A full day is more than enough to visit Jianshui.
