Tagong is a little town located at 3718m above sea level in the Sishuan province. It is a 6-hour bus journey from Ganzi. Expect greenish grasslands, breathtaking landscapes with snowcapped mountains, Tibetan villages and a lot of animals such as yaks, horses and eagles.
Getting a bicycle is the best way to explore the area. Just get lost on the many paths departing from Tagong! There a couple of sights to visit such as the Ser Gyergo Nunnery, the Lhagang Monastery, the Golden temple, the Valley of Painted Stones, temples and stupas in Tagong’s surroundings.
While a big day can be enough to see all the highlights, Tagong is a great little town to enjoy a couple of days.
