The Mudeungsan National Park is located in the Southern West part of South Korea. The city of Gwangju is right beside the park. If heading from Jeonju, it is a short 1-hour bus journey to Gwangju.
The Mudeungsan National Park features 3 peaks named Cheonwangbong, Jiwangbong and Inwangbong – also known as the ‘Jeongsang Three’. It is an easy hike going through the forest and several famous temples.
The first section is a 8km path with a positive 770m from the Wonhyosa Temple to the Cheonwangbong Peak. The second section is a 6.7km hike with a negative 628m from the Cheonwangbong peak to the junction between the Mudeung-ro and the Wonhyosa Jeungsimsa Trail. The third and last section is a 4.2km hike with a negative 655m from the junction to the Munbinjeongsa Temple. There is a much shorter trail following signals which does not show up on maps.me. Views are pretty much the same.
