Mount Hallasan is a volcano located in the center of Jeju Island – southern part of South Korea. It is the highest peak of the whole country. The Hallasan National Park is noted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
There are 5 different trails through the Hallasan National Park (Seongpanak, Eorimok, Eoseungsaengak, Yeongsil and Gwaneumsa). The Seongpanak trail and the Gwaneumsa trail are the only ones leading to the Hallasan Peak which stands at 1950m above sea level.
The most scenic but also the toughest trail is the Gwaneumsa one. It is an easy 16km return hike with a positive 1329m. It goes through the jungle with several water streams and waterfalls. The view from the Hallasan peak is absolutely stunning.
