Jeju is a volcanic island and the jewel of South Korea! Expect stunning landscapes, beautiful beaches, gorgeous volcanoes and lush countryside. Flying over Jeju Island is the easiest and cheapest way to get there. Ask your hostel to book a flight for yourself. They are using local websites with bargain flight fares. If flying from Gwangju, a late evening flight barely costs 10€. Jeju is the biggest Island of South Korea (60km West to East, 30km North to South). There are plenty of budget accomodations all over the Island.
The Northern part of Jeju Island
While the highlights are pretty much all located in the Southern and the Eastern part of the Island, you should spend at least a day in Jeju city as it is the most convenient way to hike the Mount Hallasan.
The Southern part of Jeju Island
The city of Jungmun is home to the Seonimgyo bridge, the Jusangjeolli cliff, the Jungmun Saekdal beach and the Cheonjeyeon waterfall. The city of Seogwipo is home to the Sojeongbang waterfall, the Cheonjiyeon waterfall, the Moon Island viewpoint and its forest walk, the Sammae peak, the Jeongbang waterfall, the Saeseom Island and the Jeju Olle trail 7.
The Eastern part of Jeju Island
The city of Seongsan is home to the Seongsan Ilchulbong, the Seopjikoji trail and the Udo Island.
Jeju Island is by far the most beautiful area of South Korea. It is worth spending a whole week to explore the numerous trails, peaks and beaches.
